Impress your friends with insider's tips on exclusive locations handpicked for Plazes by Unlike, the definitive city guide for the mobile generation.
unlike.net conveys the city's most treasured locations, events and urban themes, capturing the spirit of life on the go: through the intricate architecture of clubs, shops, restaurants, galleries, parks, museums... helping you feel at home wherever you are.
Getting lost in the city has never been so comfortable.

Berlin is about to go summer crazy. No matter if you're a foreigner living in Berlin or just a temporary guest - it's inevitable that everyone back home will hound you for suggestions of a good Berlin summer tour.
With such an incredible array of unique spots at a variety of strand bars, sport spots, open-air theaters and endless under-the-sky clubs every week, it's always difficult to pick the right spots to rule them all.
And that's simply because every Berlin summer day is usually guaranteed great events, vibrant mood and stylishly debauched parties.
Berliners' faces you might not see out so much in the winter are everywhere in the summer; the typical Berlin hibernation is over and it's time to let it go. Go outside! Go for a round of Boule, visit the wonderful lake sides outside the city, take your BBQ right by the Spree, put the Burgers on the grill, chill and be prepared for a good smoke. What started with vino tino and tostada de huevos de codorniz in Barcelona turned into a full-fledged love affair with the city of Barcelona.
Vienna surprised us even more with an artist's haven of a place, offspace, that we would have never expected to find in Austria's capital.
After few stressful weeks hovered over the computer, we sojourned to peaceful Copenhagen and recharged at one of the city's foliage-filled gardens.
Suddenly, we found ourselves with three more cities on our radar. Barcelona, Vienna and Copenhagen: countless of hours collecting, testing, and editing. We're taking a little weekend vacation now--we've earned it.
We're pleased to announce today that Unlike just got a bit smarter to where you are, when you are, if you'll forgive our pigeon English.
Why? We've teamed up with our friends over Berlin-based Plazes, which allows you to map out where you're going--and have your friends meet you there. In their own words, "Plazes is a location-aware service, connecting you with the people and places in your vicinity and all over the world." So kindred spirits, if you will: Even our headquarters are just 'round the block from each other in Berlin-Mitte.
So how does this work, exactly? It's pretty simple to use - sign up for a Plazes account, and when browsing through berlin.unlike.net, click on the "Plaze me here" icon on the right hand side of the description.
All of your contacts on Plazes will be automatically informed as to your whereabouts, saving you from sending pricey text messages or dealing with the "the-music-is-too-loud-whaaat??"-conversations that are bound to happen when late-night reveling.

No God, No King, No Tower, No Whore - Babylon was not Babel!
So runs the tagline for this spectacular exhibition, promising to be the event of the Summer on Berlin's Museum Island. Assembling over 800 objects from the the British Museum, the Musée du Louvre and the Réunion des musées nationaux in Paris and Berlin's own National Museums, the exhibition compares the actual 3,000 year history of the Mesopotamian metropolis against the dark glamour of its myth.
Truth: Centering around the famed Ishtar Gate and the Processional Way of Babylon, once one of the Seven Wonders of the World and now treasure of the Pergamon Museum, this section of the exhibition examines the archaeological evidence of the world's first great city. The legendary gate is rejoined by ancient sculptures, documents, ritual objects and architectural fragments to reveal the roots of Western civilization.
Myth: The remainder of the exhibition examines the use of Babylon as metaphor for all that is denied, repressed, and feared in Western culture. Mankind's primal fears of slavery, sex, violence, and madness are expressed in its horror of the city as a place of sin and tyranny. Confronting the myth of the "metropolis of eternal apocalypse" exposes the psychology of urban culture and civilization's deep shadows.
