Dank außergewöhnlich guter Kontakte zur Presseabteilung der Neigungsgruppe Computeranimation darf datenschmutz schon heute abend, also jetzt - eben in Echtzeit - ein international computer animation festival ankündigen: von 4.-20. Juli zerrt realtime generation im quartier21 eine Subkultur ans grelle Sommerlicht des Museumsquartiers. Zusätzlich stehen Podiumsdiskussionen, ein Open Air Kino sowie Partys im Metalab, im werkzeugH und im Wirr am Programm.

Veranstaltet wird das Festival von dvision - dieselbe Crew, die uns auch schon zahlreiche großartige Demoscene-Meetings im werkzeugH beschert hat, also verwundert's auch nicht weiter, dass Eintritt zu allen Veranstaltungen völlig gratis ist. Was sind "Demos" und die Demoscene?
Im Gegensatz zu gewöhnlichen Videoanimationen sind Demos audiovisuelle Filme in Echtzeit, sie werden Pixel für Pixel "live" berechnet. Demogruppen demonstrieren damit ihre Fähigkeit, besonders effektiven Code zu programmieren. Beruflich sind Mitglieder dieser Szene oft bei Spieleproduzenten oder Animationsstudios tätig, ihr Können ist auch in Hollywood gefragt. Entstanden ist die Demoscene in den 80ern aus ehemaligen Crackern, die den Kopierschutz von Spielen

No God, No King, No Tower, No Whore - Babylon was not Babel!

So runs the tagline for this spectacular exhibition, promising to be the event of the Summer on Berlin's Museum Island. Assembling over 800 objects from the the British Museum, the Musée du Louvre and the Réunion des musées nationaux in Paris and Berlin's own National Museums, the exhibition compares the actual 3,000 year history of the Mesopotamian metropolis against the dark glamour of its myth.

Truth: Centering around the famed Ishtar Gate and the Processional Way of Babylon, once one of the Seven Wonders of the World and now treasure of the Pergamon Museum, this section of the exhibition examines the archaeological evidence of the world's first great city. The legendary gate is rejoined by ancient sculptures, documents, ritual objects and architectural fragments to reveal the roots of Western civilization.

Myth: The remainder of the exhibition examines the use of Babylon as metaphor for all that is denied, repressed, and feared in Western culture. Mankind's primal fears of slavery, sex, violence, and madness are expressed in its horror of the city as a place of sin and tyranny. Confronting the myth of the "metropolis of eternal apocalypse" exposes the psychology of urban culture and civilization's deep shadows.

Heute abend schau ich mir EURO 2008 - Österreich Deutschland in der GEEK Fanzone werkzeugH an. Vorhin bin ich durch die Stadt gegangen, sie war bereits heavy overcrowded by Fussballfans aus Deutschland. Obwohl die Stimmung im Boulevard - siehe hier Max Kossatz's Snapshot - angereizt und das Bier schon in ordentlichen Mengen konsumiert wird, bin ich noch völlig gelassen. Ich werd mir das emotionslos anschaun, denn schliesslich mag ich Fussball auch nicht besonders.
Nicht nur in Presse, auch auf Twitter steigt die Stimmung stetig.... Und: apropos Twitter, im werkzeugH werden heute ausser Gastgeber manfredH mindestens diese Followers sein: schneeengel • linzerschnitte • mac_pauli • austrianstartup • liechtenecker • sueholzer • onitz • bodinator vielleicht auch clara_l • lovion • mikeemesser • misik • und andreasklinger, der vermutet, dass die Hütte heute knallevoll sein wird!
