I left a friends apt this night and while on the subway back home received the text "Michael Jackson is dead." I started checking twitter, the news websites, everything, while my roommate was watching cnn the whole night through. When I woke up I made a playlist with every single MJ song I own, when scream came on I almost shed a tear. I was really cut up about this all day. I felt like a part of my childhood had died. I cannot remember where I was when the berlin wall fell, but I can remember where I was when the black and white video premiered.
In death, I have a new understanding of my favorite line of one of my favorite songs:
And when the groove is dead and gone
You know that love survives
So we can rock forever
May you rest in power, MJ.
